| According to my son Yusuf, a cell phone that takes pictures is a "Cheese-a-Phone!." He came to that conclusion when his sister, Sarah, took his picture with a camera phone and told him to say "cheese!". Yusuf and his younger brother Ridwan are both autistic-specifically they both have a diagnosis of Pervasive Developmental Disorder (Not Otherwise Specified). Yusuf is nine years old and Ridwan is seven years old. They are the cutest little boys around! This is a site about my kids and autism (mostly my kids), how autism affects my two boys and their not autistic sister. |

| Yusuf, 9, was diagnosed with autism just before he turned 3. He is quite a talented artist! He draws both on the computer and on paper. He has been using a computer since he was 18 months old. He learned by observing me using it and playing with it on his own. What a smart kid! Yusuf is very protective of his little brother and looks up to his big sister. Update: Yusuf is now in second grade at Council Rock Primary school and doing very well. He can read and also does well in math. He is able to tell how old someone is by knowing the year of that persons birth. He can also go the other way and guess a birthyear by finding out someone's age. |
| Ridwan, 7, was diagnosed with autism just before his second birthday. The fact that his older brother has the same diagnoses does not prove, but certainly suggests that autism could be hereditary at least in some cases. He's a happy little guy and his brother and sister both look after him. Like his sister, he enjoys spicy food. He had started using the computer now. I have pictures!
